ドラマ「南極大陸」の原作（原案）は、北村泰一の小説「南極越冬隊タロジロの真実」です。この話は、1983年に映画「南極物語」で映画化されています。

■ドラマ「南極大陸」のあらすじ
時 代は昭和30年代。第2次世界大戦の敗戦から立ち直る日本は、南極観測に参加。第一次南極越冬隊副隊長の倉持岳志（木村拓哉）らは、子供たちからの募金を 受け、19頭の樺太犬と共に南極へと旅立つ。しかし、倉持岳志を待ち受けていたのはリザードが吹き荒れるインアクセサブル・ポイント（接近不可能な地点） だった。

■ドラマメモ
新ドラマ「南極大陸」は、TBS開局60周年記念として制作されたドラマで、2011年2月から撮影を開始して、半年以上の撮影期間をかけて作る民放版の大河ドラマです。

柴田恭兵が第一次南極越冬隊の隊長を演じ、木村拓哉が副隊長を演じます。

ドラマ「南極大陸」のロケ地は北海道根室市のようです。ストリーの対部分は根室市でロケを行うようです。
